Program Overview

The Women in Law Professional Attire Scholarship Program provides financial support and professional guidance to women law students as they shift into the legal profession. The program offers a $500 stipend for professional attire along with consultation on professional dress standards, wardrobe management, and clothing care specific to the legal field.  Sneak peek:  It is NOT a navy pantsuit (unless that is what YOU want).  

Program Objectives

  • Support women law students in building an appropriate professional wardrobe
  • Reduce financial barriers to presenting professionally in legal settings
  • Provide practical knowledge on professional appearance standards in various legal environments
  • Build confidence in new attorneys through proper professional presentation, in line with their own unique desires and personalities 
  • Create networking opportunities with established women legal professionals

Scholarship Components

Financial Support

  • $500 stipend designated for professional attire purchases
  • Option for direct vendor partnerships with professional clothing retailers (for potential discounts)

Professional Consultation

  • One-on-one consultation with a professional stylist familiar with legal dress codes
  • Guidance on:
    • Appropriate attire for different legal settings (courtroom, client meetings, office, networking events)
    • Building a versatile legal wardrobe on a budget
    • Quality assessment of garments
    • Proper clothing care and maintenance

Eligibility Criteria

  • Female law students in their 3L year preparing to enter the workforce 
  • Demonstrated financial need (criteria to be determined)
  • Commitment to entering legal practice
  • Priority given to first-generation lawyers and those from underrepresented backgrounds
